Tough I’m quiet unsatisfied with Strava’s performance and its service, I have to admit it is the best cycling community worldwide. It’s easy to find great routes around and do some researches on others’, ever pro players’ data. It’s why I’m still using Strava.
Otherwise, there are too much paths in Tokyo which make you get lost anytime. So I need navigation on my phone. The iPhone mount from Topeak is quiet good except for its iPhone case. The recordings and navigation results in the problem of the battery life of my phone. Here comes the topic.
Charging while cycling.
That’s sure that you can use a frame bag and put the portable power insides. Ever I have tried taken advantage of the bottle cage. However, many bags and variety of stuffs on the frame make the bike look heavier and not cool. That’s why I started working on a portable power for cycling.
At first, I was thinking of using silicon and bands to fix the power on the frame, until I found this product, the cycling light “lucetta” designed by Pizzolorusso and produced by Palomar. (https://www.palomarweb.com/product/lucetta/) The official introduction is
“Made up of two small magnetic lights, the Lucetta is the new, essential light for your bike. Easy to attach to any bike, the two small lights – 1 red and 1 white – switch on with just a click and are guaranteed to stay securely in place even on the bumpiest street. You can select a steady beam, a slow or fast flashing light by simply clicking the light on the bike. When you reach your destination, remove the lights, join them together and slip them in your pocket ready for your next outing.”

I bought a pair. It is attached to the frame by magnet. I feel quiet worried of getting them lost during bumpy on the road. But because of its weight under 50 gram and strong magnet. It works quiet good on my steel frame.
After that, I started thinking on using magnet as well to attach and detach my portable power.
I found a compact power from Anker which weights only 134 grams and provides the capability of 5000 mAh, enough to charge my iPhone 1.5 times. I also found some strong small-size magnets from Daisy, a cheap $1 shop in Japan. Roughly, I attached the magnets to the power by versatile PVC tapes. It works good.
Meantime, I found a 30cm-long lightning cable from Belkin. They together works quiet good during my test on my bike.
